Between the 22-24 June, Lund hosted an international research conference called Neutrons in Biology 2009, a satellite meeting of the European Biophysical Societies Association’s Biophysics Congress in Genoa. The meeting in Lund focused on recent progress in the application of neutron scattering to problems in biological and biomedical science. Different speakers presented recent results concerning a wide range of topics and methods, for instance regarding structural studies of proteins and their complexes in solutions, crystals and at interfaces. Neutrons in Biology 2009 also put strong emphasis on the way in which neutron approaches can interact with other methods. A central goal of this meeting was to encourage the involvement of scientists who currently do not use neutron methods but whose work can benefit from it. Contributions from young scientists were encouraged and the meeting included opportunities for contributed oral and poster presentations as well as selected poster talks. Neutrons in Biology 2009 meeting had a prominent list of invited speakers from all over the world, including Lise Arleth (University of Copenhagen) Fredrik Tiberg (CEO Camurus AB, Lund) Christian Vettier (ESS Scandinavia) and Ferenc Mezei (Research Institute for Solid State Physics, Budapest). The meeting also contained 7 Sessions, over 30 oral talks, Young Researcher Talks, and over 50 posters. For more information, please visit:
