Last weekend, a three-day international conference on the environment called Klimatting Ett was arranged in Lund. The three days climate gathering consisted of inspiring discussions, workshops, lectures, brainstorming, presentations, meetings, own creations, study visits and evenings filled with social and cultural activities. Key persons in climate politics, as well as participants in the upcoming COP 15 meeting, were also present, and the conference had attracted about 250 youths from Sweden, Europe and the rest of the world.

ESS was one of the participants at the three-day Climate Gathering. We presented the ESS and informed about how material science and research at ESS will lead to improvements and constructions of new, more sustainable materials for a sustainable society. We also described our strategy to make the ESS become the first carbon dioxide neutral research facility in the world and presented various objectives for creating the most environmentally smart grand scale work place in Lund.

Klimatting Ett is created by Lund Youth Council and youth forum for Agenda 21, and gathers young people aged 12-25 from the city of Lund, Sweden, Europe and the rest of the world. The aim of the conference is to bring the voice of the young to United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 15 in Copenhagen, 7-18 December 2009.
