ESS Scandinavia offers a green and unique three-fold energy strategy – CO2-neutral and energy efficient:

• energy conservation
• renewable sources of energy such as windmills and biofuels
• reuse of excess heat through the Lund district heating and cooling system

As the first research project, ESS Scandinavia has been accepted as a partner in the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign on the basis of the CARESS project – Climate Aware Research, European Spallation Source Scandinavia.

All in all, this will make the ESS an excellent demonstration project for future large-scale facilities.
